More than a foot of snow shocks parts of New York’s Hudson Valley

Despite little snowfall in the forecast, a number of local residents actually faced more than a foot of “surprise” snow.

A number of New Yorkers were shocked to wake up to a small amount of snow on Sunday. Most of the Hudson Valley woke up to dust or inches of snow on Sunday.

However, parts of the Upper Hudson Valley actually received more than a foot of “surprise” snow Friday through Saturday!

“Everything comes together in a situation like this, to cause a heavy snow event located over a rather small geographic area. The higher elevations saw more than ONE FOOT of snow from this difficult to predict event.” The Hudson Valley weather forecast said. “Guidelines suggest that a 2 inch coating was likely in eastern Columbia County… but the actual result was dramatically different. The combination of available humidity, cold northwest wind in the right direction, has resulted in increased snowfall at higher elevations. The Hudson Valley is a unique region for experiencing unique weather events. “

Below are the snowfall totals, according to the National Weather Service

Stacker searched internet resources, pop culture publications, and databases like Know Your Meme to find 50 different memes and their meanings. While the almost self-replicating nature of these vague symbols can become exhausting, memes in their essence can bring people together as well, as long as they have access to the internet.
