gDi Implements FaceTec’s Leading 3D Facial Authentication Software for UAE’s Largest Bank

ABU DHABI, WATER, January 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Gulf Data International (gDi) has been a trusted technology integrator and solutions provider in the MENA region for nearly 40 years, and now in partnership with biometrics technology leader FaceTec, announces the launch of software Liveness Detection and 3D Face Authentication at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), following successful deployment of the industry-leading solution.

FAB has chosen gDi to integrate its digital security solution, which is based on FaceTec’s 3D Liveness Detection and 3D Face Matching software. The system offers unparalleled security when onboarding users while providing a fast and intuitive interface for everyone, regardless of their device.

Sunil Dixit, Head of Digital Banking, Consumer Banking Group, at FAB, said: “FAB constantly strives to apply innovative technologies to deliver a simpler, more convenient and smarter customer experience at every stage of the banking relationship. FaceTec gives us an invaluable tool to achieve this goal, with their solution allowing us to perform liveness checks quickly and seamlessly, without the client needing to do anything other than look into the camera. 3D is unique and widely adopted by leading companies around the world, with local support via It was a pleasure for us to work with gDi on the implementation of this cutting-edge solution, which will improve the overall customer experience with us . »

Situated at Abu Dhabi, FAB is the largest bank in the United Arab Emirates and one of the largest and most trusted financial institutions in the world, offering a wide range of solutions, products and personal services that deliver a tailored customer experience. The addition of 3D Liveness Detection and 3D Face Matching now provides unprecedented security when onboarding new users and verifying existing customers from any smart device. A two-second video selfie proves the user’s liveliness, matches the user’s 3D FaceMap to their official ID photo, and sets up their new account. Each time the user returns, the in-progress authentication checks the liveness again, then compares their new 3D FaceMap to the one acquired during registration. If the right user is present, they get instant access. All onboarding transactions are processed through the FAB “Payit” platform, which has now expanded to many other apps in the Bank’s portfolio.

The implementation of 3D Liveness Detection and 3D Face Matching enabled higher levels of security for Payit, the UAE’s first all-in-one digital wallet. Created by FAB, Payit was built with a vision to help the UAE move towards a cashless society.

Omar Atta, CCO of gDi, explains: “This project was implemented with our partner FaceTec, who also helped us adapt the product to the specific requirements of the UAE market. The deployment was well prepared in advance, so that we were able to run it entirely without a fast and efficient deployment enabled FAB to scale the solution through its bank-wide application network in Q4 2021.”

“We are honored to work with gDi and FAB on such an important and forward-thinking project in the UAE,” said Kevin Alan Tussy, CEO of FaceTec. “Working with such talented and smart people has resulted in a seamless deployment of critical biometric cybersecurity technology that will provide a foundation for FAB’s ambitious and progressive programs and set an example for the rest of the world.”
