Danetrik’s streetwear in downtown Rockford to host grand opening

ROCKFORD – A space vacated by a popular restaurant in downtown Rockford now has a look.

Danetrik’s, is an upscale casual clothing store that features original lines by the owners, Faith and OD Patton III and other local brands.

The store opened on September 1 at 420 E. State St., site of the old asian bistro in Kuma, which closed last year.

The boutique will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be food from the local Main Squeeze vendor and clothing from three local pop-up shops.

The store is named after OD’s younger brother Danetrik Winfrey, who died of a heart attack at the age of 29.

“He would have turned 30 on August 13 and I just didn’t want his name to die,” OD said. “He was very creative and played several instruments. He loved art, comedy and was a great father. When I lost him last year, it confused me a bit, but it motivated me to realize that I’m here for a purpose. “

When the Pattons first looked at the Kuma’s space, they were in awe but figured it would be more than they needed and more than they could afford.

They wrote down the phone number for the For Lease sign anyway. They signed a lease within weeks and got to work converting a restaurant space into a retail store and printing house.

About 85% of the store’s clothing is printed on site. “It was meant to be,” OD said.

Graduated from Auburn High School in 2004, OD has a background in sales and previously owned a security company.

Faith is a serial entrepreneur from Independence, Missouri. She owns a spa, a children’s boutique, and does business consulting and web design in addition to her duties at Danetrik.

Danetrik's clothing store sells clothing and accessories for men and women, including brands of co-owners OD Patton III and his wife Faith. The East State Street store is seen here Thursday, September 23, 2021 in Rockford.
