A photo of a monitor lizard perched on a fence has gone viral on several social media platforms. While the image itself scared the internet, this is what happened after social media buzzed.
The photo was originally shared on Facebook in 2019. It was posted by a man named Long Cherng Lee from the Johor region of Malaysia. Because of its scale, it was called a “mini Godzilla” at the time.
Here is the post.
Two years later, the photo is still a viral meme template. Only this time he ended up on desi Twitter. Several Internet users of the microblogging site used the image in various scenarios which amused everyone.
“Aunt thodi cheeni dona humare ghar cheeni khatam hogai hai,” one netizen added hilariously.
Another user added: “When the hostel’s deadline is still 10:00 PM and you reach 10:05 PM.”
Most of the scenarios are extremely relevant. It was also a walk down memory lane for many.
“Aunt aapke not mom ne ghar ka chabi diya hai kya ??” one tweet said.
Another tweet spoke of the memorable ‘ravine cricket’ scenario where the ball lands in the neighbor’s house, only to never come back.
One user tweeted the age-old apology, “sorry aunt ball dedo ab nahi aayegi”.
Another tweet said: “Momy lunch mein lene aajana please.”
Monitor lizards are found very frequently in many parts of the world. While it’s in our best interests to stay away from them, internet users have done a great job turning something like this into a fun meme.
